Job Title: Lead Front-End Developer Bucharest

Contract: Full-time contractor

Our clients come to Goldfish to hire high performing teams across digital, data and marketing. We’re looking for a lead front-end developer in Bucharest to lead the development team across multiple clients and help deliver better code, faster for our clients.

The role

  • Assess developers and QA during hiring process helping us grow the team with high quality developers
  • Set the technical direction of our front-end technologies and lead the implementation
  • Devise, explain and review technical solutions with the team
  • Estimating and refining user stories and acceptance criteria written by product managers
  • Debugging and troubleshooting complex problems in Shopify and WordPress
  • Taking specifications from the design team and building them in Shopify and/or WordPress
  • Collaborating with product managers and designers to deliver an iteration that achieves the user’s goal
  • Conducting code reviews/peer review on submitted code with colleagues
  • Managing dev, staging and production environments
  • Monitoring and improving the pipeline by introducing automated testing
  • Participating in agile rituals including standup, refinement, sprint planning and retrospective

Skills required

  • Fluency in HTML, CSS, and Vanilla JS
  • Extensive understanding of front-end principles like web standards, progressive enhancement, responsive web design and performance optimisation
  • Experience with command line tools such as CSS pre/post processors
  • An eye for detail, an appreciation for design and usability principles
  • Extensive Javascript knowledge and experience – particularly the use of JS on e-commerce websites and/or platforms
  • Experience working with Liquid (Shopify) and Woocommerce
  • Must have proven record working with Shopify stores and WordPress
  • At least four years’ experience in a similar role, agency side would be desirable but an in-house background is also sought after
  • Strong attention to detail and assuming there’s always a better way
  • Experience working in a cross functional agile team and knows agile scrum methodology

The recruitment process

Our recruitment process is 3 stages. First, an interview so we can get to know you and what you’re looking for in your next role. Second, a technical assessment which you will receive 100 EUR to complete (we don’t believe in unpaid work). Lastly, a final interview to introduce you to the whole team.
